Day 16
1 mile.
On the treadmill.
9:43
I don’t need to reiterate what I said last Friday but suffice it to say that one mile was sufficient, over and done with, followed by a quick stop in to the grocery store and liquor store. Now I’m off to drink some wine and eat some pasta with Mowry. I’m….carb-loading???
Two songs got me pumped tonight, but the one that made the cut is...

Day 15
3.5 miles.
On the treadmill. At 5:30 am.
34:57
My workday is going to run a bit later than usual so figured I’d get this run in early. The gender split at the gym at this time of day is kind of interesting. About 1 man to every 7 women.
Following suit from last night’s song pick, today I listened to Radiohead’s “Idioteque” TWICE! I’ve always thought it...

Day 14
1 mile.
On the treadmill + some strength training.
10:00
I’ve been battling a 3-day headache and today I wanted nothing less than to come home and take a bath (or just go straight to bed). But I didn’t and the run was easy, I even considered running more but figured I’d leave that to tomorrow.
I think I’ve been eating more refined sugar than usual. Scratch that - I...

Day 13
1 mile.
On the treadmill + an hour of the most intense spinning class yet beforehand (it’s kind of fun, I’m getting better at spinning too!).
10:08
Is it New Years yet? I kind of want a day off. Not of exercise, but of running. After the intense but super awesome spin class, I wanted nothing more than to be done. But then I ran a mile.
Funny thing is, as soon as the mile was...

Day 12
3 miles.
On the treadmill + a 1-hour yoga class.
30:38
Third awesome run in a row. WHAAAAAAAAAT? I don’t want to jinx it so that’s all I’m going to say about that.
The Bryan Adams I downloaded last night really helped. My favorite song was the aptly named “Run To You”.

Day 11
2.6 miles.
Roger Williams Park loop.
25:51
Short & sweet. Felt good.
Listened to The Anniversary the whole time. I listened to this band a lot in high school and they’re definitely a pick-me-up for me. Today I especially enjoyed “Never Die Young” from their Your Majesty album.

Day 10
5 miles.
Ran Blackstone Blvd. + a few more miles down by the river.
49:53
AMAZING RUN. Felt fantastic! Best run in the streak so far.
Listened to as much of The Suburbs as I could. Really loved “We Used To Wait”.

Day 9
1 mile.
On the treadmill.
10:06
Come on now, folks. It’s Friday. I NEVER EVER EVER work out on Fridays. So that’s all I got.
Loved “Ready to Start” by Arcade Fire. I’m thinking I might want to run to their whole The Suburbs album, actually.

Day 8
3.5 miles.
On the treadmill.
35:20
At 5:30 am. Yup, you read that right. I knew I wouldn’t be able to make it to the gym tonight, so I set my alarm for 5 and drove to the gym (because I don’t run in my neighborhood in the dark).
I feel good. Feel like I made up for last night.
As much as I hate to admit it (and I think I’m very quickly getting sick of it), the best song...

Day 7
2.5 miles.
On the treadmill.
26:11
Tonight might have been my worse run yet. Set off to run 5, so you can see my disappointment. Left ankle pain + weird tummy situation (could be the twizzlers and peach rings I ate all day) + hunger (what? twizzlers and peach rings don’t count?) + grumpiness = bad run.
I know, I know…it’s better than nothing. Well, sure…but...

Day 6
2 miles.
On the treadmill + a 1 hour kick-butt-why-am-i-doing-this-sweat-dripping spinning class.
21:08
Slow & steady & very easy…the running part, that is.
I’ve been going to this spinning class for a couple of weeks now, it was fun to add a quick run in beforehand.
MIA’s “Paper Planes” took the lead tonight with catchiest song. So much so that I almost...

Day 5
1 mile.
On the treadmill + 1 hour of yoga beforehand.
10:00
Today I woke up all “this is going to be easy” but after yoga I was all “but…I don’t want to run!!!”
It was hard to get into the pop music after yoga, so this calmer, slow-paced song was the winner tonight: “Sleeping In” by The Postal Service.

Day 4
1 mile.
Ran around the Armory.
8:43
Quick & sort of easy. At least one mile per day right? Those are the rules, so today it’s only a mile.
Song pick of the day? (of the four I heard): Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal”.

Day 3
3.2 miles.
Ran Blackstone Blvd. again.
31:58
T-shirt weather! This run felt really good.
Favorite song was definitely hearing Taylor’s sweet voice in Las Cab’s “Happy Life”. We miss you every day, T.
Fast is not important…unless someone is chasing you.

Day 2
3.2 miles.
Ran Blackstone Blvd.
31:52
I think I was a little dehydrated. And still full of turkey, potatoes and wine from Thanksgiving dinner. It was tough. I also wore a windbreaker-type jacket which made it feel more like running in a trash bag. Gross.
Best song of the run? “Decale Gwada” by Jessy Matador.
You see, I listen to really embarrassing music when I run.

Day 1
5 miles.
Ran the Lincoln Woods loop twice.
First 2.5 mile loop: 26:29
Second 2.5 mile loop: 25:33
Admittedly, I stopped my watch for a few “song selection” breaks in that second loop. Is that cheating?
Song that got me up the last hill? Billy Ocean’s “Caribbean Queen”
It all starts tomorrow.
I like to run. Actually, I love to run. Actually, I love to run some days and hate to run other days. So it’s a love-hate thing really.
Saw this holiday running streak on runnersworld.com and with a little push from a certain someone (yes, YOU Ann!), I’ve decided to do it.
